Frequently asked questions
How Resid works, for photographers, videographers, and the companies they license to.
The basics
What is Resid?
Resid is a tool for real estate and
architectural photographers and videographers to license their work, photos and film alike. You
add an address and Resid finds who to license that property's images or film to by itself, then
prices each license, sends outreach in your voice, collects payment, and delivers the files, all
in one place.
Does Resid work for video?
Yes. Film is licensed
the same way, with pricing and usage terms tuned for video. The company reviews the cuts through a
private link and picks the ones it wants, each licensing on its own, then you send a quote and the
full-resolution files are released on payment.
How does a license actually happen?
You send the
company a private link to review the work and choose what they want. For photos, they select the
images they would like to license. For film, they review the cuts. Once they have chosen, you send
a quote based on that selection, they pay securely, and the prepared full-resolution files are
released to them. Review, then quote, then pay, then deliver.
Do companies license everything?
No. They license
only what they choose: the specific images they select, or the cuts they need. The gallery or
review link is for choosing. Only what they license is delivered.
What if I find my work already in use?
Log it as a
sighting. Paste the link, say who is using it and what they used, and Resid prices that use,
drafts the note, and tracks it from logged to paid. The license covers the time the work was
already up, so paying it settles the past as well as the future. You do not need to have added
the property first.
Pricing and payment
What does Resid cost?
Pay as you go is $0 a month
with no card, and Resid keeps 20% of a license only when it is paid. Basic and Pro cut that share
to 10% and 5%. New accounts start with a free month of Pro, no card.
How is the price set?
You set it, using Resid's
calculator, based on what they license (the number of images, or the film) and how the company
plans to use it. Every quote is per company.
How are payments handled?
Payments run through
Stripe and are paid out to your connected account. Resid never stores card
details.
Email and your data
How does Resid send email?
From your own Gmail, on
your behalf, so replies land in your inbox and it reads as you. If Gmail is not connected, the
same draft opens in your mail app. When a company publishes only a contact page, Resid copies the
message and opens their form. And when email goes quiet, it drafts an Instagram message and a
text you can send by hand. You approve every message before it sends.
Can Resid read my email?
No. Resid requests only
permission to
send on your behalf. It cannot read, search, or store the contents of your
mailbox, and your authorization is encrypted and revocable at any time. See our
Privacy Policy.
Is my data secure?
We take reasonable measures to
protect it, including encrypting sensitive credentials at rest. We do not sell personal data or use
it for advertising. Details are in the
Privacy Policy.
Agreements
Does Resid provide the license agreement?
Resid can
generate a license agreement template as a convenience, but it is
not legal advice. Have
your agreements reviewed by your own attorney before relying on them. See our
Terms.
